Product Verification & Process Capability Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Within manufacturing & certainly across the Aerospace & Defense sectors demonstrating 100% inspection, demonstrating product verification & ultimately Cp & Cpk (process capability) across your dimensional features has always proven to be a labour intensive task.

Multiple systems, excel, mini-tab, SPC tools etc etc. not working as elements of your process but relying on individuals to actually take the raw data, manipulate it into the correct format & obtain the result.

Collect the data at the point in the process, operator measuring the component, CMM measuring multiple features & use the data intuitively within IPI apps. Whether its to populate your AS9102 FAI forms or to populate all your dimensional features against each component within your batch, the short movie below shows how using the data at the point of capture in the process enables simple demonstration of inspection & the ability to show your process capability against features.

Russ,

A demonstration of VisualFAIR's abilities was performed last Thursday 6/10 for our management team. The presentation was well received and all the information you had provided proved quite valuable to address specific questions about your application.

I would like to add, during the presentation a conversation was generated surrounding a specific FAIR in need of immediate action. The QA technician that had been chosen to champion your software was able to balloon a 4 page drawing with approximately 200 features in less than 30 minutes using VisualFAIR. This real world performance will certainly support the need to acquire such a product, as this would be 2+ hrs of free hand work.

Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to measure your software application against our needs to improve our FAIR process.

Lewis Engineering benefit from VisualFAIR Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Lewis Engineering is a woman-owned minority small business established in 1981, are AS 9100, ISO 9001, and ASQR01 certified and currently employ approximately fifty employees in their Grand Junction facility.

Bob Kraley & Russ Hassinger both Quality Engineers at Lewis Engineering, Inc. have been using VisualFAIR® following the implementation as part of the Hamilton Sundstrand FAI Improvement Program.

Bob & Russ commented; "We have had the opportunity to use your software for several months on several FAI projects for our company.  The projects involved large multiple sheet drawings (20 to 40+ pages) with as many as 1000+ characteristics.  We are very impressed with its functionality and versatility.  The learning curve to get up to speed was very minimal.  The instructions and VERY helpful input from IPI was phenomenal.
Once the databases became populated for measuring equipment, specifications, non numeric values and special process codes, the population of AS9102 forms became a very simplified matter.  The mistake proofing capabilities of the software, i.e. filtering and coloring of markups, is a distinct added function.  The ability to edit/add/delete markups is extremely useful especially on large AS9102 FAI forms.  The generation of the final PDF form containing all of the certs, drawing, and attachments in one file make for a very professional package. Thanks once again"

Gregg (IPI), Linda & Harley

Gregg Oldham writes - 'They were all very impressed and exited to start using VisualFAIR, they know immense time is going to be saved along with improved document Quality. Having gone through the training, had them set up an FAI style etc, they all pulled through one of their drawings to make a start on. Interestingly, when concluding the session at Danville it was commented on how they remembered what to do with the software better when using their own drawings.

Martin Aerospace Thursday, February 12, 2009

Martin Aerospace undertook a trial of VisualFAIR process improvement software, supplied by IPI Solutions Ltd, during the last quarter of 2008. The software was seen as the next logical step in the development of existing robust processes for FAIR creation and as a tool to fully utilize all electronic data available on the Martin Aerospace IT network.
The trial proved very successful with significant improvements in compilation time, elimination of human errors and improved presentation of the completed FAIR pack.
The software’s ease of use has also allowed the quick ballooning of drawings for technical and dimensional data during the contract review process.

As a result of the successful trial Martin Aerospace have now purchased a 3 user system and have to date completed over 130 FAIR's with further 100+ prepared prior to launching for production.
